Behind the Seams: Our Fabrics

At Lavender Hill Clothing, we create beautiful basics for every woman's wardrobe. With a range of shapes, lengths, fits and colours, our clothes are meant to feel good to wear. Here is a guide to the fabrics we use, and where our clothes are made: most of our t-shirts in Portugal, and our socks and cashmere in the UK.

Modal

The fabric we use most is TENCEL™ Modal, a fibre made from the pulp of beech trees. We find modal versatile, from our leggings to our essential tees. It is soft, smooth and strong, so it holds its shape wash after wash.

Cotton

We use a number of different types of cotton, including Supima cotton in selected pieces. Cotton is breathable and easy to care for, and suits everyday t-shirts and layering tops.

Lyocell

Like modal, TENCEL™ Lyocell is made from wood pulp. It has a soft, smooth finish and drapes well, which makes it a good choice for nightwear and tops.

Linen

We love linen. It is made from the stalks of the flax plant, feels cool in summer and gets softer with washing. It is strong and long-lasting. Discover more in our blog on linen.

Cashmere

Our most indulgent fabric because of its silky soft feel against the skin. Our cashmere is made in Scotland. It is warmer and cosier than linen, which makes it ideal for the colder months.
