Why Sustainable Sleepwear Is the New Luxury

What Makes Nightwear Feel Luxurious: Fabric, Fit and Detail

Good nightwear is about how it feels, how it fits and how long you want to keep wearing it. This guide covers what to look for.

Fabric

What you sleep in should feel smooth and not cling. Our nightwear is made in Portugal using TENCEL™ Modal, a cellulose fibre made from beech wood pulp. It is known for a soft, smooth drape and a silky feel against the skin. Cotton and linen are other good choices: cotton is familiar and easy to wash, and linen is airy in warm weather.

Fit and detail

Luxury in nightwear usually comes down to small details.

  • Fabric that moves with you and does not twist or cling.
  • Considered finishing such as contrast piping and neat stitching.
  • Flattering shapes that feel smart even when you are relaxing at home.
  • Pieces that you can mix and match across the week.

Our Shawl Collared Pyjama Set is a good example: a soft modal fabric, a relaxed but neat fit and a classic design that works for slow Sunday mornings as well as at night. You can browse the rest of our nightwear collection.

Choosing well

  • Check the fibre content on the label.
  • Choose a size that gives you room to move.
  • Wash according to the care label and avoid high heat to keep the fabric soft.
  • Buy fewer, better sets that you will wear for years rather than many cheaper ones.

Lavender Hill is an independent British brand, and our nightwear is designed in Britain and made in Portugal.
