Article: Why We Love Lyocell

Why We Love Lyocell

Why We Love Lyocell

When founder Isobel Ridley started Lavender Hill in 2013, the feel and quality of the fabric were among the most important factors for her. Here is a little about the fibres we use most.

You may be familiar with TENCEL™ Modal, a very soft fibre made from beech tree pulp. TENCEL™ Lyocell is a similar idea: a cellulose fibre made from wood pulp, from trees such as beech, eucalyptus and oak. To read more about how it is made, click here, or see our fabrics and production page.

We use TENCEL™ Lyocell in selected loungewear and activewear. It is smooth, breathable and soft against the skin, which suits movement and layering.

Here are three soft pieces for your activewear and lounge wardrobe.

Tapered Yoga Trousers

Our high-waisted tapered yoga trousers have a soft, stretchy feel that suits a yoga class (or coffee and cake, if that's more your thing).

Style them with one of our classic t-shirts for your class, then throw on a wool coat and trainers afterwards for an errand-ready athleisure look.

Ribbed Scoop Neck Tank

A ribbed TENCEL™ Lyocell tank that is smooth and breathable against the skin. Wear it with leggings for a class, or under a cardigan or jumper as a base layer.

Shawl Collar Top

Your class is over and you are heading home. Our TENCEL™ Lyocell shawl collar top is soft enough to lounge in and smart enough to wear out for a well-earned coffee on the way.
