What Makes Lavender Hill a Standout Among UK Sustainable Clothing Brands?

What Makes Lavender Hill Clothing Stand Out Among UK Clothing Brands?

There are plenty of UK brands making T-shirts and basics. Here is what Lavender Hill Clothing does, in plain terms, so you can judge whether it suits you.

1. Timeless design

We design clean, versatile pieces that are easy to wear across seasons rather than follow fast-moving trends. They work well in a capsule wardrobe: for work, weekends or time at home. Wearing a piece for many seasons is one of the simplest ways to get value from it.

2. Where our clothes are made

Lavender Hill is an independent British brand, founded in 2013 by Isobel Ridley, who trained at Burberry in London. Our clothes are designed in Britain. Where they are made depends on the product:

  • Most T-shirts and our nightwear are made in Portugal.
  • Leggings are made in the UK and Portugal.
  • Socks and cashmere are made in the UK, with cashmere made in Scotland.
  • Alpaca pieces are made in Peru.

Our Portuguese T-shirt factory is led by a mother-daughter team and employs over 70 women.

3. The fabrics we use

  • Cotton, including Supima cotton in selected pieces.
  • TENCEL™ Modal and TENCEL™ Lyocell. We hold a TENCEL™ licence. See what is modal fabric and what is lyocell.
  • Linen, merino, cashmere and alpaca, with silk in a few pieces.

Fibre content is listed on each product page, so you can check what you are buying.

4. Help with caring for clothes and passing them on

Our blog covers garment care, capsule wardrobes and choosing fabrics. We also include a Thrift+ bag in our parcels, to make it easier to send on clothes you no longer wear.

Why customers choose us

  • A wide choice of T-shirt necklines, sleeve lengths and colours.
  • Timeless designs made to be worn for many seasons.
  • Clear information on fibre content and country of manufacture.
